Therapy for Children, Adolescents + Teens
Embrace growth, heal, and discover your inner resilience.
You want what’s best for your child. You want to protect them from the hurt and pain of the “real” world for as long as you can. You try to be a place of comfort and safety for your child. Yet, your child may be struggling and you may be uncertain how to help. Life is hard enough as an adult to understand, sort through, communicate our feelings. Now imagine life as a child or adolescent.
Life can be overwhelming as they absorb the world and their experiences; uncertain how to navigate the emotions and experiences they are having. The world is different for our children. Finding their safety in the big emotions, high demands and stress placed on parents, parental fighting, siblings, divorce, being bullied in school as they try to figure out who they are and how they fit in can be lonely and exhausting. Thankfully, therapy for children and adolescents is more widely used and accepted as an additional support for you and your child. You don’t have to face these challenges alone. If you think your child may benefit from mental health therapy because they are struggling emotionally or physically, please reach out and schedule an appointment. At Creative Healing, we are here for you and your child. A place for your child to connect to and feel safe not being ok.
Therapy for children is individualized to meet your child’s needs. We take the time to connect with your child to assist in the therapeutic process. Our therapists utilize different parts of therapy modalities to encompass your child’s entire well-being. Our therapists are trained in play therapy, TF-CBT, Mindfulness, and EMDR to create the space for healing.
Your Child May Benefit From Therapy If They Are:
- Experiencing big emotions, and disruptive behavior
- Experiencing bullying
- Witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event
Therapy By Age
- Toddlers (1-3 years old): Therapy for toddlers may address developmental delays or emotional support or disruptive behaviors. Trauma experienced in this age may also be processed. Your counselor will work with you as the parent and your child to engage in play therapy to process scary events and provide support.
- Kids/adolescents (3-12 years old): Therapy for adolescents within this period utilizes a combination of talk therapy, play therapy, art and parent interaction. Adolescents brains are growing exponentially and this may be a overwhelming time for them as they try to navigate where they fit in the world. Adverse childhood experiences and traumatic experiences may also be processed using TF-CBT or EMDR to assist your child in healing from what happened to them.
- Teens (13-18 years old): The teenage years may some of the most confusing and overwhelming parts of the human experience. Therapy for teenagers offers a safe, unbiased place where your teenager can go and be themselves, in whatever capacity that looks like. Here, they will receive support, learn coping skills and new skills they can use to navigate adverse experiences of identity, bullying, social pressures, anxiety and depression.
Transforming pain into growth.
We recognize the overwhelm you and your child may be experiencing as you try to navigate what is best for your child. There is no right or wrong time for your child to begin therapy
