Sparkles Tugboat

Tugboat “Sparky” is coming in hot at Creative Healing, bringing his puppy joy and curiosity to everyone who walks through our door. He’s fully embraced his role as a gentle reminder not to take ourselves, or life, too seriously. Sparky knows the importance of play, going with the flow, and most importantly, that naps absolutely count as part of the healing journey.

Sparky is currently under supervision from Fynn as an animal assisted therapy dog. Animal-assisted therapy can help clients of all ages engage more fully in therapy. It has been shown to reduce symptoms, increase coping ability, motivation, and/or self-esteem. Having Tugboat in the room may be comforting for clients who may be new to therapy or need a companion as they share their stories. Specifically for children and adolescents, dogs can help improve empathy, increase social function, and increase problem solving abilities.

At Creative Healing Mental Health Center, clients can be asked to be accompanied by Tugboat into your sessions. During this session, you may be met with a lot of redirection from the therapist towards Tug to stop him from chewing all the things. Though once he has exhausted himself of curiosity, be prepared for him to flop. Of course, if he’s following you and you do not want him in the room, feel free to shut the door; he doesn’t get offended and enjoys his bed.
