EMDR intensive therapy combines the power and efficiency of EMDR therapy without the time constraints that one must adhere to within an insurance based 60 minute EMDR session.
Release the time constraints one must be aware of as you engage in EMDR therapy for 3-5 hours over 1-4 days to heal from your experiences in this intimate setting. The “intensive” language used simply refers to the length of consecutive hours and days you participate in therapy in one sitting.
EMDR intensives may be one of the quickest and most effective ways to overcome our struggles and reduce/eliminate symptoms.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma and other mental health diagnosis. EMDR combines the healing power of our brain and body to helps us process negative feelings and change the way we think about ourselves and our memories. With the way EMDR allows for processing of experiences, intensives allow for your body to process more experiences in one session versus multiple weekly sessions. Each EMDR. intensive is individualized to you and your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions About EMDR Intensives
What does an intensive schedule look like?
Intensives are individualized to you and your needs. They may be scheduled between 1 to 4 days depending on your treatment goals. This will be discussed during your consultation time. Sessions will consist of 3-5 hours of therapy with breaks and time to ground and rest. Dress comfortably, pjs and stretch pants are always welcome. You are welcome to bring snacks and drinks. You can bring your own lunch, microwave is available and eat somewhere around the center or you can frequent a restuarant of your choice.
How much do intensives cost?
- Insurance does not cover the extended time utilized to complete an EMDR intensive session.
- Intensives are available from 3 to 4 hours per day. From 1-4 days. Billed at $250 per hour.
- A 50% deposit will be required to book your time
- The remaining 50% will be paid on the first day of the EMDR intensive.

How do I prepare for an intensive?
An intensive will be your time to really focus on yourself and your healing. There is nothing you need to do prior to your intensive to “prepare” for work you will do in the intensive.
However there are some things that are recommended, such as getting as much sleep as you are able and eating a full breakfast prior to your intensive. Bring any snacks you may want. While EMDR is a natural process, your body may be tired following your intensive as you heal wounds your body has been carrying. Ideally, being able to treat this time like a personal retreat, doing things you enjoy after your intensive session like yoga, hiking, taking a bath or a massage. However, life may have other expectations for you. So, I encourage you to take care of yourself however this best fits you.

Intensives will be held at Creative Healing Mental Health Center.
