Jennifer Coyne, LPC CSAC

About Jennifer

Jennifer Coyne holds licenses as both a clinical substance abuse counselor (CSAC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).  She started her career in the substance use field in 2003 and worked  as a residential counselor, as a counselor in an inpatient detox center, and as an outpatient substance abuse counselor.  As a person recovering from significant alcohol and substance abuse she quickly realized that the systemic silos separating mental health from  substance abuse made no sense and got her degree in mental health counseling in order to be able to work with the full person, not just a substance use diagnosis. Jennifer has been substance-free for several decades and understands how important–and brave!–this first step toward potential change can be.

Sessions With Jennifer

Jennifer’s clients have described her as a hippie.  She suspects this is because she’s short and uncomfortable in most chairs so she often sits cross-legged.  She also likes colorful clothing and hates shoes.  Jennifer is warm and non-judgemental without being wishy-washy.  She stays on-course, understands that seeing the whole person is essential,  and will offer honest feedback in a way that can easily be heard.  Her sincere desire is to make sure that the person feels heard and understood during the 2-hour substance use assessment.  If it ends up being the first step in a change process it’s a win!
